JasonStewart FHVolley NAZUSTA Southwest’s largest annual team event, the Adult League Section Championships, will be making its way to Phoenix, July 30-August 1.
Nearly 600 players comprising 50 of the best adult tennis teams from Arizona, New Mexico and El Paso, Texas will be taking over the courts in Phoenix and competing in three days of intense competition in their various NTRP levels (2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0). The hope for each team is to earn a shot at claiming the USTA Southwest automatic bid to the USTA League National Championships.

Teams have advanced through local league play to make it to Phoenix. Various teams of players from across this great Section from cities like Flagstaff, Tucson, Phoenix, Albuquerque, Las Cruces, El Paso and more will be competing in flighted pool play.

Matches will take place at Indian School Park, Scottsdale Ranch Park, and Phoenix Tennis Center with an early morning start planned for each day.

Team registration begins at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 29.
The mandatory pre-event Captain’s Meeting will follow at 5:30 p.m. Both the registration and the captain's meeting will be held at the Hotel Valley Ho (6850 East Main Street, Scottsdale, AZ 85251), our host hotel for the tournament.
(See more hotel info below.)

Registration: All players must register online for the Adult League Championships by the
July 18 deadline. Registration after this period will be $10 more per participant.
Note 1: The USTA will also be transitioning over its entire membership database on July 30-31 to a new system and a processing blackout will occur. So it is HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to make sure your USTA membership is current past the tournament date, as you will not be able to renew memberships on those dates or on site in Phoenix.
Note 2: Due to the excessive 110-plus degree temperatures that are normal in Phoenix in late July/early August, we will be playing at the crack of dawn, with 6 a.m. starts to make it easier on players and to minimize fatigue and dehydration. Even with our early starts, conditions will still be extreme. Players are advised to come prepared physically for these conditions, and to be be properly hydrated before, during and after matches. Captains should also keep this in mind when scheduling players as some divisions will have five matches over the course of just over 48 hours.

Play will take place using more than 50 courts of play at three of the nicest public tennis centers in the Phoenix-Scottsdale areas. Each location has several food stops and businesses nearby.

PLAYER PARTY – Be a child of one of the greatest decades ever at our 'I Love The 80s' Player Party on Saturday, July 31 at the Valley Ho Hotel. Check the final page of the Captain's Packet for the real scoop about the party, but suffice to say we are going to rock out!

We want you to remember back to those years when MTV was just getting started, and having an Atari or parachute pants made you the bomb. Think back to when the ‘Hoff (David Hasselhoff) was king of the boob tube, John Hughes flicks were en vogue, Madonna was ‘Like a Virgin’ (yeah, right) and the clothes were flourescent and off the wall… but the music was totally killer!
80sSeriously, don’t be a dweeb and miss out on this totally rad party. We want to see you ALL dressed up to the max - big, long, teased (or crimped!) hair, fishnets, funky pop, Swatch watches, oversized gold chains, Pumas, New Wave androgyny.
The 80s had it all, so you should have no probs thinking of something to wear to our Southwest shindig!

There will be costume prizes for best individual and team, and just about every other category we can think of. Channel your inner Crockett and Tubbs, Cyndi Lauper, Dukes of Hazzard (Daisy, Bo, Luke), A-Team, Jennifer Beals (Flashdance), Billy Idol, whatever you got …just bring that 80s flair! Major bonus points for wearing tennis outfits of the 1980s, too! Rock that Le Coq Sportif, Sergio Tacchini, Chris Evert Ellesse gear or Ivan Lendl Adidas vintage shirts if ya got 'em.

We can dance if we wanna', and believe you we will at the Awesomely 80s Party!

A special ‘thank you’ goes out to our generous USTA Southwest League Championships sponsor, All About Tennis. Please support them as they are helping support tennis in the Southwest.
