Augustus Ge reached the finals of a USTA National Open event in El Paso, Texas in mid-February.

Phoenix-area junior player Augustus Ge recently reached the final of a USTA National Open boys 14s singles event, held at the El Paso Youth Tennis Center in El Paso, Texas, February 13-17.

The second-seeded Ge won five consecutive matches, including three straight over seeded players for his place in the final of the Level 2 national event, which is just a step below the four USTA National age group championships. In the final however, the Phoenix native's run came to a close, falling to top-seeded Jacob Dunbar of Medina, Ohio by a score of 6-4, 6-3.

It was a productive week for Ge, who squeaked through two three-set matches in the Round of 16 and quarterfinals. It was the second consecutive national event that Ge has reached the final in. At the beginning of the year in Tucson, Ge won the Boys 14s event at the Copper Bowl.
