2007 USTA Central Arizona Annual Awards

USTA Central Arizona is proud to announce the following winners for 2007 Annual Awards. The winners of the following categories will advance to USTA sectional and national awards.

1 cheneyWilson Adult Player of the Year - Brian Cheney
This award is given to either an outstanding male or female who has high achievements for the year in the Phoenix Area, Section or Nationally.













capronCommunity Tennis Volunteer - Bob Capron
This award is given to recognize recent significant contributions made by a person volunteering to promote adult or junior recreational or competitive tennis programs in their section.














2 burns familyPrince Family of The Year - Paul Burns Family
Given to an outstanding family in the Phoenix Area, who volunteers, plays and promotes tennis in a positive way.







3 dunnHead/Penn Junior Sportsmanship - Garret Dunn
This award is presented to a player who not only displays the finest qualities of sportsmanship during tournament play, but who also demonstrates exemplary conduct away from the court as well.













6 iongi5 nguyenAll About Tennis Outstanding Junior Player of the Year - Mele Iongi & Andy Nguyen
One male and one female player who has demonstrated significant achievement throughout the year. It will recognize outstanding accomplishment in tennis including ranking, improvement and overcoming adversity.







7 wardOutstanding Media Support - Larry Ward, Ahwatukee Foothills
One person from the sports media who provides outstanding tennis news through newspapers, magazines or periodical publications.














paseoMember Organization of the Year - Paseo Racquet Center
Given to an outstanding Phoenix Area organization who makes a contribution to tennis and the promotion of the game. Shows exceptional service to it’s members in sponsoring USTA events.













8 rayOutstanding High School Coach - Dan Ray, Mountain Pointe High School
To recognize a high school coach who is making a difference in juniors lives through a High School Tennis Program.













9 tolsonOutstanding Tournament Enrichment - Rusty Tolson
Given to recognize the contribution of an individual who encourages competitive play in their community by providing and enriching sanctioned tournaments in a fun, friendly and professional manner.

Annual award given to an outstanding girl and boy in the 12-14 age category.

This annual award is given to an outstanding girl sportsman in the 16-18 age category.














10 botschJohn Gooding Memorial Sportsmanship – Andrew Botsch
Annual award given to an outstanding boy sportsman in the 16-18 age category.














11 oliverMichael Rodriguez Memorial – Ambassador To Tennis - Ford Oliver
Good Sportsmanship, love of the game, encouragement in and growth of the game at all levels of play.
