24 Hour Marathon Fundraiser to be played at The Village

March 12, 2008 05:00 PM

April 12-13, 2008. Mark this date down in your calendar! Teaching Professional Donna Yuritic will be playing tennis 24 hours straight in a marathon fundraiser to benefit PASS.

She will be conducting this event at the Village Racquet and Health Club on 44th St. and Camelback. If all goes as planned, this will be one of the first events on their newly remodeled show court and facility.

The format is simple. Donna will start playing tennis on 8:00 am Saturday morning April 12 with a group of three people. Every hour she will play with three new challengers/sponsors until Sunday morning April 13 at 8:00 am. Donna is allowed only a five minute break each hour and every fourth hour a 15 minute break to eat and change clothing.

Last year Donna raised $12,000 with this event. This year her goal is to double that amount. We invite you to come and support Donna while she plays and chat with PASS founder Tony Reyes as he tries to stay up all night with her.
We are not sure how many games Donna will win but we do know the biggest winners will be the kids PASS serves. Go Donna, Go!

Ways to Sponsor:

1. You (and/or your friends/team) may sign up to play an hour of doubles with Donna. The donation cost is $50 per person per hour.

2. You may make a pledge to donate a certain dollar amount per game. At the 2007 marathon, Donna played 381 games.

3. You may make a straight donation to PASS to support this event. People donating over $50 are entered into a drawing to win a couple of $100 gift certificates donated by All About Tennis in Scottsdale. All participants are automatically entered.

4. If you can think of other creative ways to help raise funds- we would be excited to hear them! Last year a young man sold lemonade for the day and another person donated jewelry to sell at the event.
