Junior Tennis Pathway

A series of tournaments and one-day events are held for junior tennis players in 2007.  These are organized and run by USTA Central Arizona and held at various tennis facilities in the Phoenix Area.  In order to participate a junior must be a member of the United States Tennis Association.

1.  Novice Circuit – New in 2007!  These non-elimination events are half day short set matches and are for juniors with little or no tournament experience.  All events are singles play only and will be held for boys and girls from ages 8-16.  Players will enter their age division but may be moved up or down based on playing ability.  The circuit will consist of twelve different events in 2007 where the top point winners will be invited to an invitational masters event in December.

2.  Satellite Circuit.  These weekend singles events are a regular tournament format for the advanced beginner to intermediate tournament players.  Matches are no ad scoring, best 2 out of 3 sets with a match tiebreak for the 3rd set.  All players are guaranteed at least two matches.  These monthly non-sanctioned events allow the top point winners to advance to the Invitational Championships in December.

3.  Super Set Circuit – New in 2007!  These sanctioned, non-elimination events are half day short set matches.  These seven events in 2007 are for the intermediate tournament player who is looking to earn a sectional ranking.

4.  Sanctioned Tournaments.  These weekend events offer regular tournament match play for ages 8-18.  This is for the player who wants to earn a junior ranking.  Players with a high ranking will also qualify to play in Sectional, Regional and National events.
